I recently embarked on a fun DIY project using Govee Net Lights, and I wanted to share my experience with the community! ![]()
Project Overview:
I decided to create a festive display for my home using Govee Net Lights. The process was straightforward, and the lights themselves are incredibly versatile. I love how easy it is to connect them to my smart home ecosystem using the Govee app. The ability to control them via voice commands or schedules has been a game-changer for me. ![]()
Integration Tips:
For those looking to integrate Govee devices into their smart home, here are a few tips I’ve picked up along the way:
- Naming Convention: I found that using a clear and consistent naming convention for my devices in the Hubitat app makes managing them much easier. For example, labeling my lights as “Living Room Lights” instead of just “Lights” helps avoid confusion, especially when setting up rules or automations.

- Rule Machine Magic: The Rule Machine in Hubitat is incredibly powerful. I was initially confused about how to differentiate between multiple devices with the same label, but using the device name alongside the label solved the issue. Now, I can create precise rules without any mix-ups.

- Xiaomi Motion Sensors: I also integrated some Xiaomi Motion Sensors into my setup. Initially, I wasn’t sure how to configure them for Alexa, but experimenting with the MotionSensor.Mode and MotionSensor.Battery Level settings worked perfectly. It’s amazing how these sensors can enhance home security and convenience.

Community Appreciation:
I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone in this community for their invaluable support and shared knowledge. It’s inspiring to see so many creative projects and helpful tips, which truly make home automation enjoyable and accessible for everyone. ![]()
