I recently purchased the Govee RGB LED Strip Lights for my pantry, and I must say, they’ve completely transformed the space! The 16.4ft length provides just the right amount of accent lighting, and the ability to customize colors has added a fun dimension to my home. I’ve been using the default themes for now, but I’m excited to explore more creative lighting combinations in the future.
One thing I’ve been curious about is integrating these lights with other smart devices. I’ve heard great things about ESPHome and how it can be used to create custom solutions. However, after updating to version 2023.2.4, I noticed some issues with the template cover component in my garage door setup. It seems the state changes aren’t being recognized by Home Assistant anymore. I’ve reached out to the community for help, but in the meantime, I’ve reverted to an older version to keep things running smoothly.
Another project I’m working on involves using NFC tags to automate various tasks around the house. It’s amazing how such a simple technology can streamline daily routines. I’d love to hear how others are using NFC tags in their smart homes!
Lastly, I wanted to share a tip for anyone dealing with orphaned devices during setup. Instead of moving the device closer to the hub, why not bring the hub to the device? It’s a small tweak, but it can save a lot of time and hassle. ![]()
Overall, the journey into smart home automation has been both challenging and rewarding. I’m excited to see what new projects and innovations the future holds!
