Govee RGBIC TV Light Bar Review and Tips

I recently got my hands on the Govee RGBIC TV Light Bar (Model H6046) and I must say, it’s been a fantastic addition to my home theater setup! :video_game::sparkles: Here’s my take on it after a week of use.

What It Does Well:

  • Installation: Setting it up was a breeze. The app guided me through the process, and it connected seamlessly to my Google Home. The only hiccup was figuring out the table brackets, but a quick trial and error sorted that out.
  • Control Options: Manual, app, and voice controls all work perfectly. I love how I can change colors or switch to music mode with just my voice. The mic selection feature is a nice touch too!
  • Build Quality: The packaging was sturdy despite some damage, and the light bars themselves feel solid and well-made.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Naming Confusion: I was initially under the impression this was part of Govee’s DreamView line because of the “TV” in the name. However, it doesn’t sync with the TV’s visuals, which might trip up others too. A name change would help avoid confusion.
  • Dimmer Functionality: The long press for dimming didn’t work as expected for me. It would be great if Govee could refine this feature for smoother operation.

Tips for Users:

  1. Voice Control Customization: If you’re using these as night lights, like I am, try setting up custom voice commands for each bar. It would be awesome if Govee added scene commands for more personalized control!
  2. Placement Ideas: These look great not just by the TV but also on side tables or desktop monitors. Get creative with your setup!
  3. App Customization: The DIY mode is underwhelming, but the preset modes are versatile enough for most needs.

Final Thoughts: As long as you know what you’re getting, these light bars are a fantastic value. They add a vibrant touch to any room and are perfect for movie nights or gaming sessions. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the market for some affordable ambiance! :bulb::sparkles:
