I’ve been diving into the world of smart home tech lately, and I must say, the journey has been both exciting and enlightening. Let me share a couple of experiences that have really stood out to me recently.
First off, I recently upgraded my Govee app to version 3.8.0, and it’s been a game-changer. The new update brings a whole slew of customization options for my light strips, which has allowed me to get really creative with my home’s ambiance. I can’t thank the Govee team enough for their hard work on this update—it was well worth the wait. I’m already looking forward to seeing what they’ll come up with next!
On another note, I decided to make the switch from my Wink hub to the SmartThings V2 hub over the weekend. Honestly, I was a bit nervous about the migration process, especially after hearing some horror stories from other users. But to my pleasantly surprised delight, everything went smoothly. I migrated all my devices—ranging from GE Link bulbs to Philips Hue Iris and Bloom lights—and not only did they all work perfectly, but the response times were a revelation compared to my old setup. It’s like night and day!
One thing I’ve noticed, though, is the lack of native group controls in the SmartThings app. While I can work around it by using individual devices, having the ability to group them would definitely add a layer of convenience. I’m hopeful that future updates will address this feature.
If you’re on the fence about making the switch from Wink to SmartThings, I’d highly recommend giving it a try. The benefits far outweigh the initial learning curve, and the community support here is invaluable. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and tips—it’s been a huge help!
Looking forward to exploring even more possibilities with my new setup. Happy smart home tinkering, everyone! ![]()
