I’ve been trying to set up my Kasa lights to gradually increase in brightness over an hour, mimicking a sunrise. It’s something I’ve seen others do, and I thought it would be a great way to start the day more naturally. I’ve spent some time tinkering with Rule Machine, but honestly, it’s been a bit overwhelming. Every time I try to set up a rule, I end up with an error message that just won’t go away until I reinstall the app. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m determined to figure this out!
In the meantime, I’ve been exploring Simple Automation Rules. It seems like there’s potential there, but I’m not quite getting the results I want. The app allows me to set a dimmer level and a fade rate, but I’m not entirely sure how to make the light start at a low brightness and then slowly increase. Is the fade rate supposed to be negative if I want it to brighten? And how exactly do I set the starting brightness? It’s a bit confusing, and without a “run the program” button, it’s hard to test changes without waiting for the scheduled time. I’m starting to wonder if this app is capable of what I’m asking it to do, or if I need to look for another workaround while Rule Machine is out of commission.
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s successfully set up something similar. Maybe there’s a feature I’m missing or a different approach I can take. In the meantime, I’ll keep playing around with the settings and see if I can get it to work. Fingers crossed!
