I purchased an Aqara H2 Dimmer EU, it’s been about 8 hours and I’m trying to connect it via Zigbee. But, when I try to pair the app with the device it does not give me an option to switch protocols. I went to a shop and bought an m1s gen 2 hub to force it for Zigbee but still nothing.
I want to use it on my Zigbee network through HA Z2M.
What I do is
- Reset the device (tried both double click + long click and 10 clicks)
- Device shows up in the app, I choose the device (with matter logo)
- It wants me to scan the qr code. I scan the matter qr code (I don’t have another QR code)
- It directly leads me to set up on matter network.
I can’t go further because I don’t have an Aqara matter hub. I use matter with my Homepod Mini.
I don’t know what to do, it’s been more than 8 hours I’m fighting with it.
Someone please help me do it

First, ensure you’re using the Aqara Home app (this is key for protocol selection). Then, reset the device by pressing the ON/OFF button 10 times in succession to factory reset it—this should make the indicator light blink slowly, confirming it’s in pairing mode .
Next, open the Aqara Home app, tap “Add Accessory,” and scan the Matter QR code on the device or manual. At this point, you should see a “Switch Protocol” page where you can select “Zigbee” (this step is crucial—don’t skip it!) . Since you have the M1S Gen 2 hub (a Zigbee hub), this should work because Zigbee mode requires an Aqara Zigbee Hub .
If the “Switch Protocol” option still doesn’t appear, double-check that your Aqara Home app is updated to the latest version, and ensure the hub is online and within range.

Thanks for this. I have been looking for exactly this proces for a few week now since I prefer to have everything using Zigbee and the powered switches make excellent repeaters.
