Hi, I have plenty of H2 EU Switches around my house and most of them are bound by M.A.R.S. to other aqara bulbs (usually GU10) but also Ceiling Lamps T1. There is one irritating behaviour in such connection: double click on the top button switches the relay state (on/off) and I can’t find a way to turn this behaviour off. I believe this is for the ability to reset the device, but…
It is quite common that when someone new enters my home, the person is NOT used to no-state switches, like these - so he keeps clicking blindly, sometimes double clicking. When such double click occurs, then the bulb gets cut out of current and that’s the receipe for disaster. That person keeps clicking even more, which often leads to… reset of the switch (facepalm). I can’t blame visitors, as light operating procedure should be easy and intuitive.
I need to also confirm that:
I keep my H2 eu switches in “Decoupled Switch Mode: On”
I keep them all operating under zigbee.
They are bound with the light by MARS TECH with “Smart Load” mode
I even put the “relay lock: ON” (while the current is on) - and it doesn’t prevent the double click to turn the relay state off - as it says it should do so!
I don’t see any difference if the “Custom Press Mode” is “single-press” or “multi-function”. It works the same way in both modes.
I thought that I could fight this problem by creating a custom automation on the top-button double click, to override the default behaviour, but it doesn’t work neither. When the Custom Press Mode is set to “multi-function”, and I want to create an automation on “double click” that just sends fake push notification, then:
a) For single switches (2 buttons): The notification is sent, but it doesn’t prevent the original double-click behaviour. It still cuts the current off
b) For double switches (4 buttons): I can’t even find top buttons as addressable for double-click. I can only use 3rd and 4th. What is the reason of this inconsistency vs single-button switches? Why it is missing?
I want to keep my smart bulbs/lamps always connected to the current!
Alternatively, to prevent your bulbs from being disconnected, enable “prohibition of removing devices” in the Aqara home app.
This way, at least one of your problems will be solved.
Double click controls the relay, this is true and it is implemented not only on the H2 switch. This is done so that even when disconnected from the relay, it can be urgently controlled.
Thank you for a brief response. I turned on the protection on both of my M3 hubs and yes, it at least prevented the accessory to be unconsciously removed.
However, the double-click thing that turns off the relay is going to still be an issue I think. Most people aren’t used to no-state switches, so they keep clicking blindly on upper or lower buttons until they see an effect (light turned on). Even for me, it happens that my finger slips and causes a double click, not to mention children and their children-guests - it’s extremely difficult or even irrational to have to teach them how to use switches in our apartment to not cause damage The smart home should generally improve people’s comfort of living, not the other way around
Have you considered changing the double-click function to e.g. four/five-click? I assume this could be a breaking change to the firmware which you could maybe not want to do, so at least give us an option to opt-out from it / or change to five-click procedure? Giving me such choice would definitely improve confidence before I let guests into my apartment.
Don’t get me wrong. I think H2 EU is a really good (and nice looking) product (I have 32 of them in my apartment!). I just think it needs a few adaptations in next versions of its firmware to make it an excellent one!
