In our home I used two H2 dimmers and now run into the following issue
the minimum light level in the HA app is much higher than when we use the rotary switch. So in the app, as soon as I hit 70% light level the LED GU10 lights are completely dimmed. When I use the switch I can lower the light level much further.
when switching on the light when they were dimmed via the app, the light level is completely dimmed untill I increase the level via the switch.
Is this something I can change in the settings menu in HA? It is primarily an annoyance that I can live with for now, but it drives my wife crazy and thus me as well because I put the switches in:)
On one switch I have 3 5.5W GU10’s and on the other 6 GU10, so that should be with the specs.
@aqara379 Hej there! Sorry to hear the brightness discrepancy between the HA app and the rotary switch is causing a bit of frustration—totally get how that can bug the whole household! Let me share what I know based on the Aqara H2 dimmer specs.
For adjusting minimum brightness, the H2 dimmer does allow setting this directly on the device: double-click the dial, rotate within 3 seconds to your desired minimum level, then click the dial again to confirm. This might explain why the rotary switch lets you go lower—you might have already set a lower minimum there.
As for app settings, the Aqara Home app (not HA) supports configuring brightness limits too. For example, the US model mentions “Custom Brightness Limits” where you can set min/max levels to prevent flickering, and the EU model notes minimum brightness adjustment is done via the device, while max might require the Aqara app under Zigbee protocol.
Since your question is about HA app settings specifically, I don’t see details in the provided info about HA-specific adjustments. If the Aqara Home app settings don’t resolve it, you might want to reach out to support for HA integration guidance. Contact the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile> Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:
Just a heads-up: I don’t actually own any H2 dimmers myself, but I’d still like to try and help you figure this out! Could you clarify a few details about your configuration?
Are you running the device in Thread or Zigbee mode? (Thread is usually the default for direct third-party connections).
If you are using Zigbee, how is it integrated into HA? Are you using Zigbee2MQTT, ZHA, or are you connecting via an Aqara Matter Bridge (like the Hub M3)?
As shown in the comparison table below (from the Aqara product page), there is a significant difference in the available feature set. In Thread Mode, many advanced settings—specifically the Dimming Range / Minimum Brightness—are often limited or not fully exposed to third-party platforms like HA.
Also, have you already tried the hardware-level calibration for the minimum brightness? According to the manual (see image below), you can set this directly on the device by double-pressing the dial and rotating it to your preferred minimum level within 3 seconds. This might help the hardware better understand the limits of your specific LEDs, which could potentially resolve the discrepancy you’re seeing in the app.
I have adjusted the brightness level via the switch, which works. Controlling the light using my homeassisant app gives me 30% range, so from 100% to 70%-68% when the lights are completely dimmed.
Playing with the settings in homeassistant will reset the minimum brightness level that I set on the switch.
really like the switch and the design with the blue ring, but the family’s approval is not so great since adjusting the brightness does not work.
