Halloween 2023! 🎃✨

Halloween is just around the corner, and I’m so excited to get my smart home ready for the spooky season! :jack_o_lantern: This year, I’ve been brainstorming some cool ways to use my smart devices to create an eerie yet welcoming atmosphere for trick-or-treaters and guests. Let me share some of my ideas and experiences so far! :ghost:First off, I’ve been experimenting with my Govee LED strips to create some haunting effects. The ability to change colors and brightness instantly is a game-changer! I’ve set up a scene where the lights pulse in red and green, giving that classic Halloween vibe. Plus, with the Govee app, I can control everything from my phone or even Alexa voice commands. It’s so convenient! :iphone:Another fun project has been setting up my Shelly 1L smart plugs to automate some outdoor decorations. I’ve connected my spooky string lights to a Shelly plug and programmed them to turn on at sunset and off at midnight using Home Assistant. It’s been a huge time-saver, and I love how it adds a magical touch to my yard without any manual effort. :night_with_stars:I also stumbled upon a fantastic feature in my Google Nest Hub that I wanted to share. By using the Scenes app, I’ve created a custom Halloween playlist that plays eerie music and sound effects. It’s perfect for setting the mood when guests arrive. Plus, I can control it all through my phone or even my voice! :headphones:However, I did run into a small issue with my Netatmo cameras. They were supposed to be my eyes on the ground for any unexpected visitors, but I noticed that the lights were flickering and not staying on consistently. After some research, I found that updating the firmware and adjusting the motion sensitivity settings fixed the problem. Now, they’re working like a charm! :hammer_and_wrench:One thing I’m still curious about is integrating my Apple Music with my smart speakers for a seamless audio experience. I’ve heard that it’s possible, but I’m not entirely sure how to set it up. If anyone has tips or tricks, I’d love to hear them! :notes:Overall, I’m thrilled with how my smart home is coming together for Halloween. It’s amazing how technology can enhance even the simplest traditions. I can’t wait to see the looks on my kids’ faces when they walk in and see all the spooky yet smart decorations! :jack_o_lantern:What are your favorite smart home hacks for Halloween?
