Halloween is my favorite time of year to get creative with my smart home setup! This year, I decided to take my spooky decorations to the next level by integrating my Govee spotlights, Nest doorbell, and a bit of DIY magic to create an immersive experience for trick-or-treaters.
The Setup:
- Govee Spotlights: I programmed my Govee lights to switch to a custom ‘thunderstorm’ scene whenever the Nest doorbell is pressed. The lights flicker in a dramatic pattern, creating an eerie atmosphere.
- Roof Bulb: To enhance the effect, I set the roof bulb to turn off, plunging the front yard into darkness before the spooky lights kick in.
- Sound Effects: A pre-recorded ghostly sound plays through my outdoor speaker system, adding an extra layer of Halloween fun.
The Result:
It’s been a hit so far! The combination of the dynamic lighting and sound effects really sets the mood. Plus, since there are no streetlights nearby, the effect is even more dramatic. I love how technology can bring a bit of magic to the season!
