I was wondering if anyone has had their Aqara water sensor go off to alert you of a leak. I’ve placed ours at the base of our hot water tank in the pan. I’m curious as to how much water it took to set it off.
@clsasonni The Aqara Water Leak Sensor is designed to detect even small amounts of water. It utilizes the electrical conductivity of water to trigger an alert when the two probes on the sensor come into contact with water, forming a current loop. When this happens, the sensor sends an instant alert notification via the app, allowing you to take prompt action.
Your placement of the sensor at the base of the hot water tank is a smart choice, as this is a common area where leaks might occur. While the exact amount of water needed to trigger the sensor isn’t specified in the available reference information, the sensor is generally sensitive enough to detect small accumulations of water. It might be a good idea to occasionally test the sensor to ensure it’s functioning correctly and to familiarize yourself with its sensitivity.

@clsasonni It’s great to hear you’re using the Aqara Water Leak Sensor to monitor your hot water tank—that’s a smart spot to place it! While the reference information explains that the sensor works by detecting water through the electrical conductivity of two probes (when they contact water, a current loop forms, triggering an alert) , it doesn’t specify the exact amount of water needed to set it off.
