Having problems plugging a lamp into the Aqara US Smart Plug

I just got an Aqara US Smart Plug. I want to be able to control a lamp. Seems simple enough.

The problem I have is that I can’t physically plug the lamp into the Smart Plug. It looks like there’s some sort of safety cover over the two slots and the ground opening. Am I missing something? I’ve pushed fairly hard and the plug (with 2 vertical pieces and no ground) just won’t go in. I’m afraid to push too hard for fear I’ll break something. The plug from the lamp is polarized and I’m sure I’m getting it oriented correctly when pushing it into the smart plug.

What am I missing?

Thanks

I found the answer over on reddit. There’s some kind of “door” that covers the holes on the outlet until you plug in a grounded plug. I guess maybe this keeps a kid from sticking a paper clip into the plug and lighting himself up.

With a little work, I defeated the safety door and now everything is working fine.
