I wanted to share my recent DIY project where I integrated a heating control system with my garage door automation. It was a bit of a challenge, but the result is fantastic!
First, I tackled the heating control. I noticed that my radiators were making a lot of noise when they turned on, so I decided to adjust the valve openings. I found that limiting the valve to 40% solved the noise issue without affecting the heating efficiency. It’s such a simple fix that makes a big difference!
Next, I moved on to the garage door automation. I used an HMIP-PCBS module to control the motor, which required some careful wiring. I connected the module to the motor’s existing switch and set up the automation in my smart home system. Now, I can open and close the garage door with my smartphone or even through voice commands!
One thing I struggled with was ensuring the module communicated properly through the Z-Wave mesh. Initially, the connection was unstable, but after reconfiguring the mesh and adding a repeater, everything works smoothly now.
This project gave me a deeper understanding of how to integrate different smart home components. It’s rewarding to see how technology can make everyday tasks so much easier. If anyone has similar projects or tips, I’d love to hear about them!
Happy DIYing everyone! ![]()
