Hey folks, I could really use a hand here.
So I just picked up the Aqara Hub M2 and was super excited to plug it into my HomeKit setup. Except… it’s not showing up at all in the Home app. Tried resetting, switching Wi-Fi networks, sacrificing a goat (just kidding), and nothing seems to work.
I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro, latest iOS, and yes, the Home app works fine with my other devices. The hub beeps and lights up, and the Aqara app sees it, but HomeKit just doesn’t want to play nice.
Is there some trick I’m missing? Does it only work on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi? Region settings maybe? Any advice from someone who’s been through this would be a lifesaver.
Appreciate the community in advance!
@LightingLlama Hey there! It sounds like you’ve run into a bit of a snag with getting your Aqara Hub M2 set up with HomeKit. Let’s see if we can troubleshoot this together!
-
Wi-Fi Network: Yes, the Aqara Hub M2 requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection. If you’re using a dual-band router, try disabling the 5GHz network temporarily to ensure it’s not causing any interference.
-
Network and Router Settings: Double-check that your router doesn’t have AP Isolation enabled and that the mDNS functionality isn’t disabled. These can prevent the iPhone from communicating with the hub on the same local network.
-
HomeKit Pairing Code: During the setup process, make sure you scan the HomeKit pairing code from the Aqara device or its manual. If scanning fails, you can manually enter the pairing code.
-
Device and Firmware Updates: Ensure that your Aqara device, the Aqara Home app, and your iPhone are all updated to the latest versions. Also, check for any firmware updates for the Aqara Hub M2 in the Aqara Home app.
-
Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can do wonders. Try turning off and then restarting both your Aqara Hub and your iPhone.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be worth reaching out to Aqara Support for further assistance. You can also try pairing the hub directly within the Aqara Home app to see if it works there before adding it to HomeKit.
Hopefully, these tips get you up and running. Let us know how it goes, and feel free to share any more questions or experiences. We’re all here to help each other out!
