Hello everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of home automation lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and challenges. Hopefully, someone out there can offer some advice or tips!
First off, I recently got my hands on a Shelly Button and have been trying to set it up to control some smart devices around the house. I’ve managed to get it connected to my network and even configured some basic actions, but I’m running into an issue where the actions aren’t saving properly. I’ve tried resetting it multiple times and following the setup guide to the letter, but no luck so far. If anyone has any tips or tricks for getting this to work, I’d be super grateful!
On a more positive note, I’ve been really impressed with my Wyze Cam v4. The picture quality is incredible, and it’s been a great addition to my security setup. I recently set one up in my backyard, and it’s been a breeze to monitor everything from my phone. The only hiccup I’ve had is with the placement of the camera. The electrical outlet is on a brick wall, and I’m not sure about the best way to anchor the cable securely without damaging the wall. Any suggestions on the best materials or methods for this would be awesome!
Another project I’ve been working on is automating my garden’s irrigation system. I came across a really cool setup using a NodeMCU-ESP32 and some capacitive soil moisture sensors. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’ve managed to get everything wired up and connected to my Home Assistant instance. The best part is how easy it was to set up the sensors using ESPhome. It’s been a great way to ensure my plants are getting the right amount of water without me having to constantly check on them.
Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of setting up my smart home. There are definitely some bumps along the way, but the satisfaction of seeing everything come together is worth it. If anyone has any tips, tricks, or stories to share about their own automation projects, I’d love to hear them!
Cheers,
