Homebridge Integration and Device Management Tips

As a long-time user of Homebridge, I’ve been thrilled to integrate my SmartThings Z-Wave devices into my Apple ecosystem. It’s incredible how seamless everything worked initially! However, I recently faced an unexpected challenge when my Intel NUC, running Home Assistant, went offline due to a power outage. After restoring power, I noticed that all my devices were showing as non-responsive on my iPhone. It was a bit alarming, but I managed to resolve it by restarting the Homebridge service. This experience made me realize the importance of backup power solutions for critical devices.

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with creating custom sensors for my energy monitoring setup using Shelly devices. While I’ve successfully tracked consumption patterns, I encountered an issue when trying to add these sensors to the Energy Dashboard. After some research, I discovered that the Energy Dashboard requires specific device classes and attributes to recognize custom sensors properly. Ensuring these settings are correctly configured was the key to making everything work smoothly!

If anyone has tips for optimizing Homebridge performance or managing custom sensors, I’d love to hear them. It’s amazing how the community comes together to solve these challenges and enhance our smart home setups. Happy automating everyone! :rocket:
