Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share my experiences with integrating Homematic into my floor heating system. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I’ve learned a lot along the way!
I’ve recently started the process of upgrading my home’s heating system to be fully integrated with Homematic. My current setup uses four rooms with analog 230V wall thermostats and motorized valves. My goal is to replace these with Homematic devices to streamline control and add smart features. I’ve done some research and identified the EQ3 Homematic Wall Thermostat and the Homematic 4-Channel Switch Actuator as key components for this project. I’ve also considered using the CCU2 Central Control Unit to manage everything.
One of my main questions revolves around the software side of things. I’ve heard mixed reviews about HomeMatic CL Studio, and I’m curious if there are better alternatives out there. I’d love to find a solution that’s user-friendly and allows me to control everything via my smartphone. Additionally, I’m trying to understand the difference between the CCU2 and the Funk LAN-Gateway. Since my router is right next to where I’d install the central unit, I’m wondering if one option would be more beneficial than the other.
Another thing I’ve been thinking about is battery-free solutions. I’ve heard that some people prefer wired setups to avoid the hassle of replacing batteries. I’m considering using a power supply module in my distribution box to power the thermostats directly. This would eliminate the need for batteries and make the system more reliable. I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with this approach or has any advice on its feasibility.
So far, the process has been both exciting and a bit overwhelming. I’m really looking forward to seeing how everything comes together and how it improves my daily life. If anyone has tips, tricks, or experiences to share, I’d be grateful to hear them!
Cheers,
Jack
