Hi everyone, I recently started planning my smart home system and decided to go with Homematic IP. After some research, I found it to be a reliable and comprehensive solution, especially since everything comes from a single manufacturer. However, I have a few questions and experiences I’d like to share, hoping to get some insights from more experienced users.
Firstly, I’m considering integrating my existing Shelly devices into the Homematic system. I’ve heard that Homematic has a good selection of components, but I’m unsure about the compatibility and integration process. Would it be better to replace the Shellys or find a way to integrate them? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
Another area I’m exploring is the automation of heating controls. I have electric heaters in some rooms and a gas stove in the kitchen. I’d like to set up a system where the electric heaters can be controlled via the Homematic app, with the option to manually override them for short periods. Additionally, I want the system to prioritize window sensors, ensuring that all heating sources are turned off if a window is open. I’m curious if this level of automation is achievable with a standard Homematic setup or if it requires more advanced configurations.
I’m also thinking about future expansions, such as adding weather-dependent heating plans and motion sensors for adjusting temperatures when the house is empty. It would be great to know if these features are straightforward to implement or if they require additional hardware or software investments.
Lastly, I’m wondering about the learning curve for more complex tasks, like creating custom macros or integrating third-party devices. I’d appreciate any tips or resources that could help me transition smoothly from a basic setup to more advanced automation.
Thank you all for your time and expertise! I’m really looking forward to hearing your experiences and advice.
