I’m reaching out to the community for some guidance on two separate but equally important smart home projects I’m working on. First, I’ve recently added a Homeseer HS-WS100+ switch to my setup, configured as a Generic Z-Wave CentralScene Switch. I’m trying to utilize the double and triple taps to trigger specific rules, but I’m running into some issues. From what I understand, double taps should act as buttons (double tap up as button 1, double tap down as button 2, etc.), but when I test this by double tapping down on my Front Porch Light switch, nothing happens. I’ve set up a trigger for my ‘Goodbye’ rule using ‘Front Porch Light Button 2 pushed,’ but it doesn’t seem to register. Has anyone else experienced this or have any tips on how to get this working properly?
On another note, I’m also exploring the possibility of using Vera for monitoring and security at a vacation home. The setup would involve temperature and humidity monitoring, water sensors, basic security cameras, motion detectors, and the ability to remotely control lights. Vera’s Z-Wave controller seems like a solid choice, but I’m curious if others have experience with Vera in a similar remote, unattended environment. Stability, recovery from power outages, ease of use for non-tech-savvy operators, and cost-effectiveness are my main concerns. Any feedback or hardware recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying the flexibility and reliability of my current smart home setup, and I’m excited to expand it with these new projects. Thanks in advance for any insights or advice you can share!
