Hey everyone, I wanted to share a cool setup I’ve been working on with my Homey system. I’ve been trying to create a tile that not only shows the status of my Homey alarm but also allows me to toggle it on and off directly from the dashboard. After some research and experimentation, I figured it out using an advanced virtual device! ![]()
Here’s what I did:
-
Created an Advanced Virtual Device (AVD): I set up an AVD to mimic the alarm status. It shows whether the alarm is armed or disarmed and even displays the scheduled times I’ve set for it.
-
Linked it to the Alarm: The AVD is connected to my Homey alarm system, so any changes made through the tile are reflected in real-time.
-
Added a Toggle Function: Best of all, I can now toggle the alarm status directly from the tile without navigating through multiple menus. It’s super convenient!
If anyone else is looking to do something similar, I’d be happy to share more details or help you set it up! Just drop a comment below. ![]()
Pro Tip: If you’re not familiar with AVDs, I highly recommend checking out the Homey Academy tutorials. They’re a great resource for getting started with virtual devices!
