Hello everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey. However, I’ve encountered a few challenges along the way, and I wanted to share my experiences and solutions with the community.
First, let’s talk about my setup. I have a row house with a neighboring corner house, and across the street are garages without power. My second garage, which is about 33 meters away, is where I’ve installed a Hörmann-Modul HmIP-MOD-HO. I’ve also set up a repeater behind a wall in my house, pointing towards the HmIP-HAP. In the garage, I have a solar panel, a ProMatic battery, an HCP-Adapter, and the HmIP-MOD-HO. Everything seemed to work during the initial setup, but I noticed a problem when the garage door was closed—the signal disappeared.
I did some research and found that the issue might be related to the cable connections. I tried moving the HmIP-MOD-HO closer to the wall using a longer telephone cable, but it didn’t make much of a difference. I’m still not sure if the cable wiring sequence is correct. If anyone has any suggestions or solutions, I’d greatly appreciate it!
Moving on, I’ve also been experimenting with automations in Home Assistant. I’ve noticed that when I try to update firmware for multiple devices at once, the process often gets stuck or times out, especially with devices that go into deep sleep. I’ve been looking for ways to automate firmware updates or at least ensure that the ‘update all’ button works smoothly. Has anyone found a reliable method for this?
Another interesting project I’m working on involves creating a flow that triggers every hour between 8 AM and 2 PM. However, since September 5th, the first run has been delayed to 9 AM instead of the scheduled 8 AM. I’ve tested this behavior with minute intervals as well, and it consistently skips the first interval. I’m curious if there’s been any recent changes or if others are experiencing the same issue.
Lastly, I wanted to share my experience with the Govee RGBIC Spotlights I recently received. They’ve been a fantastic addition to my outdoor lighting setup, and I’m thrilled with how they’ve transformed my yard. I’ve already found a few perfect spots to place them, and I’m looking forward to experimenting with different lighting effects.
To wrap things up, I want to thank everyone in this community for their invaluable support and expertise. It’s truly amazing how much we can achieve with the right guidance and resources. If anyone has any questions or needs assistance with their smart home projects, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m happy to help!
