I’m curious how those of you with a HomeGuardian subscription are handling payments.
I’d really like to subscribe because I want access to all the features, but I’m honestly not comfortable entering my credit card details directly, and I don’t use PayPal either.
Does anyone know if Aqara has any plans to support Apple Pay? Or are there any other payment methods people are using? I know some banks and card providers offer virtual or one-time cards, but I was wondering what everyone else is doing.
Do you just enter your card details and trust Aqara, or is there a better approach?
@andreas36 For HomeGuardian payments, it mostly depends on which platform you’re subscribing from:
Android: HomeGuardian supports Google Play payment on Android clients, so you can pay via whatever payment methods you’ve already configured in Google Play (often including store balance, gift cards in some regions, etc.).
Non-Android clients (e.g., iOS): It supports PayPal or credit card payments.
On the Apple Pay question: I don’t see anything in the current HomeGuardian payment options that mentions Apple Pay support, so at least right now it appears to be not offered (and there’s no info here confirming future plans).
If your main concern is entering card details directly, one practical approach is subscribing through Google Play (if you have an Android device available) since the transaction is handled by Google’s billing layer rather than typing card details into the service checkout flow.

I don’t use it, but Aqara uses Woo/Stripe for their e-commerce store, so I would guess this is the same CC processor for the subscriptions, but don’t know for sure.
That aside - philosophical question:
You are comfortable giving your camera footage, then why not your payment information? At least with your CC you can dispute false charges and are protected by the CC vendors for Fraud.
I do have an Android device available, so subscribing through Google Play sounds like a great workaround. I hadn’t even considered that option, and I’d definitely feel more comfortable letting Google handle the payment rather than entering my card details directly.
Hopefully Apple Pay support will be added in the future as well, but for now this seems like the best solution. Thanks for the tip!
Subscribing via Google Play is probably the most “hands-off” option from a card-sharing perspective since Aqara never directly sees your payment details—Google just handles it through your Play account. If you’re already set up with a safer funding source there (store balance/gift card/virtual card through your bank), it’s a pretty clean workaround.
And yes, Apple Pay would be a welcome addition on iOS—hopefully Aqara adds it down the road. If you hear anything official, definitely post an update; a lot of folks here are in the same boat.
