How far can a camera be from the hub?

Hello,
I’m thinking of getting an Aqara Indoor Camera E1 for my garage.

The camera will be roughly 17m (56 feet) from my M3 hub.
Will that distance be an issue? Or does the distance not matter as long as there is wifi reception in the garage?

Hello.
The camera has a WiFi connection. Do not forget that the connection must be WiFi 2.4. I recommend that you disable WiFi 5 when connecting the camera, if it is in your router.

Good thinking, @gafich10.
The 5Ghz network has a different name, so I should be ok connecting it to the 2.4Ghz. Id I run into an issue, I’ll temporarily disable the 5Ghz. :slight_smile:

In the end, i did not need to switch off 5Ghz, but I did run into an issue when connecting the camera to Wifi. The Aqara home app had location services ‘on’, but it wouldn’t connect to a network until I allowed ‘precise location’.

Hopefully that’s helpful to someone else with issues selecting a wifi network while setting up an Aqara camera. :slightly_smiling_face:

For the camera you need just WiFi, hub has nothing to do with its connection
