I replaced the outdated Honeywell VisionPro TH8000 with the Honeywell YTH8320ZW1007, a Z-Wave compatible model. The installation was straightforward, and it communicated seamlessly with my Vera system. The real magic, however, came from integrating this thermostat with my home security system.Here’s how it works: When my alarm is armed in ‘Away’ mode, Vera automatically switches the thermostat to EnergySavings mode. This adjusts the temperature to a more economical setting while I’m out. When I return and disarm the system, Vera switches it back to normal mode. To ensure everything runs smoothly, I created two scenes with LUUP code—one for when the alarm is armed and another for when it’s disarmed.The results have been impressive. My heating and electric bills dropped significantly, and I’ve saved over $60 in just a few months.
