Hey everyone, I wanted to share a little victory I had with my Home Assistant setup. For a while, I noticed that all my motion event clips were disappearing every morning. I thought they were supposed to stay for 14 days, but clearly, something wasn’t right.
I did a bit of research and found out that the default retention period for events is actually shorter than I expected. After some digging, I discovered that I could adjust this setting in the configuration. It was a bit tricky to find where exactly, but once I figured it out, it was straightforward.
Now, my clips stay for a full week, which gives me enough time to review them without worrying about losing important footage. It’s such a relief, and it really improved my peace of mind around the house.
