Hey everyone!
I wanted to share my recent success with integrating my motion sensor into my smart home setup. After some trial and error, I finally got everything working smoothly, and I’d love to help others who might be struggling with similar issues.
So, here’s what I did: I set up a rule where my front porch light turns on when the motion sensor detects movement and turns off after 1 minute of no activity. But here’s the catch—I wanted this rule to only activate during certain times of the day. Initially, I faced some challenges with the timing, especially when the evening mode was already keeping the lights on. After some research and tweaking, I figured out how to make it work seamlessly!
Here are a few tips I learned along the way:
- Understand Your Device Compatibility: Make sure your motion sensor and lights are compatible with your smart home platform. I used an ESPHome setup, which worked perfectly for me.
- Test in Different Scenarios: Before finalizing, test your setup during different times of the day and under various conditions to ensure it behaves as expected.
- Seek Community Help: If you run into issues, don’t hesitate to ask for help. The community here is super supportive and always willing to lend a hand.
If anyone is working on a similar project or facing any issues, feel free to reach out! I’d be happy to share more details or troubleshoot together. ![]()
