How to connect U400 to Homekit?

I am unable to add this as an accessory into Apple home. I have a HomePod, which is my understanding all I need. every time I try to add an accessory, it says pairing fails if it says anything at all.

I am a sophisticated user and an engineer, and I’ve been screwing around with this thing for an hour. Nothing works. I don’t know how you can engineer a product and spend all this money and refuse to write a good manual in the native language of where you are selling the product let alone with instructions that actually work.

Just to confirm, are you pressing the set button on the lock a before scanning the Matter code?

Yes but it prompts me for a fingerprint and to select am operation which seems unexpected

I had luck by first installing my U400 using the Aqara app only, then I updated the firmware.

Once that was done I removed the U400 from the Aqara app, readded it, then I was able to connect to homekit successfully.

Also, the option is a little buried in the Aqara app. You can find the link here

click on the lock in the app
click on the three dots on upper right to go to settings for the lock
click on the ‘Matter’ section in general settings
click on connect to apple home

You can try one of these two methods:

  1. Press the set button, validate your fingerprint then press 4 to put it into matter binding mode. Then try scanning it

  2. Reset the lock via the reset button then press the set button. It won’t ask you to validate your fingerprint. After it is in HomeKit you can add it to your Aqara app.

Check in iPhone-settings-general-matter accessories to see if the lock is showing there as I’ve had accessories add themselves but not present in Apple home. If it’s there delete it. You can try to add the u400 again with the matter code or reset the lock first and start the process over pressing set again to add to Apple home using the printed matter code on the lock
