Hi everyone, I’ve been exploring the new media browser feature in Home Assistant and it’s been a game-changer for how I manage my media files. I’ve successfully uploaded some files to my HA instance and can now browse and play them through various Google media players in my home. It’s amazing how seamless the integration is!
However, I’m curious if there’s a way to play these files using a service call, especially for automations. For instance, I’d love to have the Nest mini in my kids’ bedroom play a reveille alarm if motion isn’t detected within 5 minutes of their scheduled wake-up time. I’ve looked through the documentation for the Media Source and Google Cast integrations, but I haven’t found any examples or guidance on how to achieve this with a service call.
Is there a way to trigger the playback of a file from the new /media location using something like media_player.play_media? Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated! I’m really excited to see how this could enhance my home automation setup. Thanks in advance for your help!
