How to Set Up a Reliable Motion Sensor Automation

I’ve been trying to set up a motion sensor automation in my smart home, but I’m running into some issues. Let me walk through what I’ve done so far and see if anyone has suggestions or tips to help me get it working smoothly.

First, I purchased a Philips Hue motion sensor to trigger my kitchen lights when someone enters the room. The idea is simple enough: motion detected, lights turn on. But here’s the thing—it’s not working consistently. Sometimes the lights come on perfectly, and other times they just stay off, even when there’s clear motion in the room.

I’ve gone through a lot of troubleshooting steps. I’ve reset both the motion sensor and the Hue bridge multiple times, changed the Zigbee channel on the bridge, and even tried a different motion sensor to rule out hardware issues. I’ve also checked my network settings and made sure everything is on the same Wi-Fi. Despite all this, the problem persists.

I’m starting to think the issue might be with the integration between Google Home and the Hue system. Maybe there’s a bug in the latest firmware update, or perhaps the settings aren’t configured correctly. I’ve tried adjusting the automation settings in Google Home, but nothing seems to make a difference.

I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions from the community. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with motion sensors and Google Home? Are there specific settings or workarounds that could help stabilize the automation? I’m determined to get this working, and I’m hopeful that with some guidance, I can figure it out.

Thanks in advance for your help!
