Hi everyone, I’ve been trying to figure out how to set up my door to lock automatically when I leave the house. I don’t want to carry a key or use my phone every time I go out, so I thought this would be a great way to enhance my home security. However, I’ve heard some horror stories about people getting locked out, so I want to make sure I do this right!
I’ve heard that SmartThings can integrate with door locks and motion sensors, but I’m not entirely sure how to set it up. Does anyone have experience with this? I’m thinking of using a motion sensor in my living room to detect when I’m leaving. Once the sensor detects no movement for a certain period, it should trigger the lock. But how do I ensure that it doesn’t lock while I’m still inside? Maybe I need to set a delay or use another sensor in a different room.
Also, I’m wondering if there’s a way to override the lock if I realize I forgot something. Perhaps a manual button or a voice command? I’d love to hear your thoughts and any tips you might have. Thanks in advance for your help!
