HS300 WiFi Connectivity Issues and Troubleshooting

I’ve been experiencing some frustrating connectivity issues with my TP-Link HS300 smart plug. About once a week, it drops off my WiFi network and stops reporting power usage to Home Assistant. While this isn’t a constant issue, it’s definitely a nuisance, especially since I rely on it to monitor power to my NAS and basement TV setup.

I’ve tried a few troubleshooting steps so far. First, I checked if the HS300 was on the latest firmware through the Kasa app, and it seems to be up to date. I also experimented with changing the 2.4 GHz channels on my router and limiting it to a 20 MHz band, but that didn’t resolve the issue. The HS300 reports a signal strength of -45/50 dBm, which I believe should be strong enough, so the problem might not be related to signal quality.

What’s been working as a temporary fix is unplugging and replugging the power strip. After that, it usually works for about a week. However, this isn’t a long-term solution, especially since I’d like to be able to power cycle my NAS remotely when I’m away from home.

I’m curious if others are experiencing similar issues with their HS300 devices or if there are any additional troubleshooting steps I could try. Maybe there’s a setting I’m missing or a different approach to maintaining a stable connection. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!
