Hub Performance Improvement and Lighting Automation Setup

I just wanted to share my recent experience with the latest update to my Hub. Since updating yesterday, my Hub Watchdog results, as well as my perception of the automations, have shown that my hubs are running faster than they ever have. It’s truly impressive how this update has enhanced the performance. I know some users have faced difficulties with the update, but once it’s sorted out, it’s definitely worth the effort if you see the same improvement. Kudos to the staff who worked hard to make this happen!

Now, moving on to something I’ve been working on lately—setting up a lighting automation for my son. We wanted to create a bedtime routine where the lights change colors as he approaches bedtime. The idea is to have green for 15 minutes, then yellow for another 15 minutes, followed by red for 5 minutes, and finally turning off. I’m using TP-Link Kasa lights, which are already integrated into my system, so that part was straightforward.

However, setting up the automation was a bit of a challenge. I had to figure out how to schedule the color changes at specific intervals. After some research and trial and error, I managed to create a rule that triggers the color changes at the desired times. It was a great learning experience, and I’m happy with how it turned out!

I also came across some helpful tips in the community about using custom sounds for alarms. One user mentioned converting audio files to 16kHz and 16-bit WAV files, which was exactly what I needed for my Ecolink siren. It was a bit tricky at first, but with the right tools, it worked out perfectly.

Lastly, I wanted to express my gratitude to everyone in this community. The support and resources available here are invaluable, and I’m always amazed by the creativity and willingness to help others. If you’re working on any interesting projects or have tips to share, please feel free to post them here. Let’s keep the knowledge flowing!

Happy automating!
