Hubitat C8 Pro and EcoNet Bulldog Integration Success Story

After spending considerable time researching and experimenting, I successfully integrated my Hubitat C8 Pro with the EcoNet Bulldog Valve Controller to work seamlessly within HomeKit. This journey was both challenging and rewarding, and I’d like to share my experience in case it helps others facing similar issues.

The Goal

My primary objective was to manage my water valve via HomeKit using the Hubitat HomeKit app integration. I already had Aqara Water Sensors integrated, so adding the Bulldog was the next logical step for comprehensive water management.

The Process

  1. Initial Setup: The Bulldog worked perfectly with the Hubitat interface, opening and closing as expected. However, integrating it into HomeKit proved tricky.
  2. Challenges: My iPhone 16 Pro Max initially refused to add the Hubitat Bridge to HomeKit. After multiple resets, reboots, and integration restarts, I tried a different phone, and it worked! My wife’s phone also worked, which was puzzling.
  3. Current Status: The Bulldog is now in HomeKit, but it fluctuates between “Updating…” and “No Response.” Despite this, I can manually control the valve via the iOS app when needed, which is a temporary workaround.

Key Insights

  • Device Compatibility: Ensure all devices are on the latest firmware to avoid unexpected issues.
  • Network Stability: DHCP Reservations helped eliminate IP-related problems, so double-check your network settings.
  • Alternative Solutions: If HomeKit integration is unstable, consider using the Hubitat interface directly for reliable control.

Final Thoughts

While the integration isn’t flawless, the ability to manage my water valve remotely is invaluable. I’m hopeful that future updates will resolve the HomeKit quirks. For anyone looking to integrate similar devices, persistence and thorough troubleshooting are key!

Happy integrating, and let me know if you’ve encountered similar challenges or have tips to share! :rocket:
