Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience migrating from SmartThings to Hubitat. After reading through various posts and guides, I decided to take the plunge and it’s been an incredibly rewarding process!
I started with a SmartThings hub that had 17 devices and a handful of automations. The idea of having a more deeply supported ecosystem with Hubitat was really appealing. The migration tool worked smoothly for most of my devices, though I had to manually adjust a few settings for specific integrations.
One thing I learned early on was to back up all my automations and device configurations before starting the migration. This saved me a lot of time and frustration later on. I also found that using the Hubitat mobile app made the process much easier, especially when setting up new devices.
Here are a few tips I picked up along the way:
- Take it one room at a time: Migrating everything at once can be overwhelming. Focus on one area of your home first and gradually expand.
- Test each device: After migration, make sure to test each device’s functionality to ensure everything is working as expected.
- Leverage Hubitat’s community: The forums and Discord channels are fantastic resources. If you run into any issues, don’t hesitate to ask for help!
I’m really excited about the possibilities Hubitat offers, especially with its robust support for custom apps and integrations. It’s amazing how much more control and flexibility I have now compared to SmartThings.
If anyone is considering a migration or just starting out with Hubitat, I’d love to hear your thoughts or questions! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most of this awesome platform. ![]()
