Humidity Sensor Advice and My Journey to Find the Perfect Solution

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with humidity sensors and hopefully help others who might be facing similar challenges. I’ve been using the Aeotec multisensor for humidity readings in my bathroom to trigger the fan. It works well, but I’ve heard how chatty these devices can be, and I’ve been experiencing some mysterious ZWave issues. So, I decided to try removing them from my network and experimenting with cheaper Sonoff temp/humid zigbee sensors.

At first glance, the Sonoff sensors seemed like a great alternative. They report data only every few minutes, which should reduce network chatter. However, I quickly realized that this infrequent reporting wasn’t ideal for my use case. By the time the sensor detects a change in humidity, my shower is almost done, and the fan doesn’t activate in time. This made me realize how crucial it is to have a sensor that reacts immediately to changes in humidity.

I’ve heard a lot about the Aeotec Multisensor 7, but it’s still not available. In the meantime, I’ve been researching other options that might fill the gap. I came across some recommendations for the Ecowitt WH68, which seems to have faster response times and better reliability. I’m also considering the Netatmo Weather Station, which offers detailed environmental monitoring and integrates seamlessly with smart home ecosystems.

If anyone has experience with these devices or other humidity sensors that provide real-time updates, I’d love to hear your thoughts! It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster trying to find the perfect solution, but I’m determined to crack this puzzle. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other find the best tools for our smart homes!
