A while back, I wanted to simplify my morning routine. Waking up to a dark house and needing to fumble for the light switch just wasn’t cutting it. So, I decided to set up an IFTTT automation that would turn on my Philips Hue bedroom lights when my phone’s alarm goes off. The best part? It works seamlessly with my Google Nest Hub, which also starts playing my favorite playlist to kickstart my day. 
Here’s how I did it:
- Trigger: I set the trigger to activate when my Google Nest Hub detects that my alarm has gone off.
- Action: The action is straightforward—turn on the Philips Hue lights in my bedroom with a soft, warm setting to mimic sunrise lighting.
- Bonus: I added a secondary action to have my Nest Hub play a playlist from my Spotify account, ensuring I start my day on a positive note.
This automation has completely transformed my mornings. I no longer grope for switches in the dark, and the gradual lighting change helps me wake up more naturally. Plus, having my favorite tunes greet me adds a touch of joy to the start of my day.
