Hey everyone! I’ve been exploring some cool ways to integrate my Govee outdoor lights with IFTTT, and I wanted to share my experience and some tips with you all. 
So, here’s the deal: I’ve been using my Govee outdoor lights for a while now, and I love how customizable they are. But recently, I thought, why not take it up a notch? I decided to connect them with my Ring alarm system using IFTTT. The idea is that whenever my Ring alarm goes off, my Govee lights would toggle between red and blue, creating a pretty cool visual alert. 
I started by setting up an IFTTT applet. For those who aren’t familiar, IFTTT allows you to create automated tasks between different services. In this case, I wanted the alarm trigger from Ring to activate the light color change on Govee. It took a bit of trial and error, but I managed to get it working!

- Connect Both Services: I linked my Ring account and Govee account on IFTTT. This was straightforward—just a matter of signing in and granting permissions.
- Create the Applet: I set up a trigger using Ring’s alarm system. Whenever the alarm is triggered, it sends a signal to IFTTT.
- Define the Action: The action part was where I got to be creative. I configured Govee to toggle the lights between red and blue. It was a bit tricky figuring out the exact commands, but Govee’s API documentation was super helpful.
- Test It Out: I tested the setup a few times to make sure everything worked smoothly. It was a relief when the lights started changing colors right after the alarm went off!
This integration has been a game-changer for me. Not only does it provide a visual alert, but it also adds a fun element to my smart home setup. Plus, it’s a great way to customize how my home responds to different events.
