Hello everyone, I’m Markus and I’ve just moved into a new home. I’ve been setting up my Home Assistant smart home system on an Odroid N2 for a few months now. I’ve been using Ikea lights because they’re affordable and have a high CRI of 90, which I really appreciate for the quality of light. However, I’ve encountered some issues with my Aqara sensors.
I decided to go with Aqara for door and window contacts because of their size and discreet design. They fit perfectly into the window frames without being too obtrusive. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that the Aqara sensors aren’t meshing well with my Ikea lights. Despite being Zigbee devices, the Aqara sensors aren’t routing through the Ikea lights as I expected.
The sensors in the basement, which are a bit further away, initially connected but lost their connection after a short period. It wasn’t until I replaced an Ikea light with a Hue one that the basement sensors started working reliably. I took a screenshot of my network and noticed that none of the Aqara sensors were connected to the Ikea lights, only to the Hue ones and a Skyconnect.
I tried explicitly assigning an Ikea light for the Aqara sensors to connect to, but it didn’t work. Even when a sensor was detected, it only functioned for a short time before becoming unreachable. I’m hoping this information might help someone else or that someone has encountered similar issues and found a solution.
Does anyone have any advice or know of other devices that might have compatibility issues with Aqara sensors? I’m really curious to hear if others have faced similar problems or have found workarounds. Thanks in advance for any help!
Best regards,
Markus
