Ikea Tradfri Motion Sensor Bathroom Lighting Solution

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a positive experience I had with my Ikea Tradfri Motion Sensor in the bathroom. I was facing an issue where the lights would turn off after 3 minutes, which was inconvenient, especially when I was in the shower. I tried several automation scripts and even considered adding a manual switch, but nothing seemed to work perfectly.

After some research and trial and error, I found a great workaround using Home Assistant. Here’s what I did:

  1. Motion Detection with Delay: I set up the motion sensor to trigger the lights with a 1-minute delay after detecting motion. This ensures that if I’m still in the bathroom, the lights stay on.

  2. Dimmer Adjustment: I adjusted the light intensity to a softer setting when the motion sensor is triggered. This creates a more comfortable environment without being too harsh.

  3. Auto-Off Timer: I programmed the lights to turn off after 15 minutes of continuous motion detection. This prevents the lights from staying on unnecessarily if I forget to turn them off.

This setup has been working perfectly for me! The lights now provide consistent and comfortable illumination without the hassle of manual adjustments. I hope this helps someone else facing a similar issue. If anyone has additional tips or solutions, I’d love to hear them!
