In-Wall Tablet Installation Success Story

I recently embarked on a project to install an in-wall tablet in my hallway, and I wanted to share my experience in case it helps others planning a similar setup. The process involved quite a bit of renovation, but the end result has been absolutely worth it!

The project started with some much-needed renovations to our hallway. After years of neglect, the walls were crumbling, and it was the perfect opportunity to integrate a flush-mounted tablet. I chose a metal frame that matches the sleek design of our home, allowing the tablet to sit neatly within the wall. The installation required some careful planning, especially since we live in a 1950s house with brick walls. There were no easy access points, so I had to create a custom mount that would fit seamlessly into the wall.

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring the tablet’s visibility without compromising the aesthetic of the room. I opted for a larger hole than necessary, giving myself flexibility in case we decide to upgrade to a bigger screen in the future. The power cable is neatly ducted sideways, and there’s even room for additional cables if needed. I used some magnets on the front cover to make it easy to remove for maintenance or updates.

The result is stunning! The tablet blends perfectly with the hallway decor, and everyone who walks in is impressed. It’s become the central hub for checking the news, weather, and catching up on daily events. I recently added a Hubitat dashboard, which looks fantastic and adds even more functionality.

If you’re considering a similar project, my advice is to plan carefully and don’t hesitate to get creative with your mounting solutions. It’s a bit of work upfront, but the end result is well worth the effort. I’m already brainstorming ways to integrate another tablet into our media room, inspired by this success!
