Installed two u400s and I live them

I purchased and installed two u400s recently for my new to me home. It’s my first experience with using the phone as a key and it has been fantastic. Having the lock open while I walk up to it has been a really nice quality of life upgrade where I had a u200 at my apartment before.

It would’ve been nice to be able to ensure the two are keyed the same but there wasn’t really an option for that. That’s really my only gripe with the lock otherwise it has been performing flawlessly.

How long have you had them set up? Any concerns around security, being tied to your phone?

About a week or two. I’m not concerned about it because my phone is either on me or in a car that’s in a fairly secure area. It also only works if I’m walking towards it as I set it up. The directional approach detection is very impressive.

Very interesting, thanks for the response

Are you saying if someone else was holding your phone it would not unlock the U400, or it would? Can you par it to unlock by Apple Watch only if the Apple Watch is unlocked? And can you set it so it only auto locks under certain parameters?

Dear User,

We fully understand your concerns, and they are completely valid. It is true that if someone gains access to your phone or Apple Watch, they may be able to unlock the door.

However, you can take the following actions to disable the device’s access to the Smart Lock U400:

If your device is lost, please use another phone or a computer to visit iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID. From there, you can locate your device and enable Lost Mode . Once Lost Mode is activated, the device will no longer be able to unlock the door—neither via UWB nor Apple home key .

Note: To ensure your device can be located, please go to device Settings > Apple ID > Find My and confirm that Find My iPhone is enabled.

Additionally, you can manage the UWB unlock feature directly in the Apple Wallet app. For example, if you prefer to use only your iPhone for UWB unlocking, you can disable Unlock on Approach (the UWB toggle) for your Apple Watch within the Wallet app.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
