Installing a Video Doorbell with 120V Buzzer

Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure out how to install a video doorbell in my home. I currently have a 120V buzzer system, and I want to upgrade it to a video doorbell without replacing the entire system. I’ve already purchased a transformer (16v ~ 10av) and want to use the existing wiring.

I came across some helpful posts suggesting using the existing transformer and wiring. Here’s what I’m thinking:

  1. Transformer Setup: I’ll connect the transformer to the existing 120V wiring. This should provide the necessary power for the video doorbell.
  2. Wiring Configuration: I’ll need to reroute the wires from the doorbell to the video doorbell unit. The existing wiring seems compatible, so I shouldn’t need to replace any cables.
  3. Testing: After setting it up, I’ll test the system to ensure the video doorbell works and the buzzer still functions correctly.

I’m a bit nervous about the wiring part. Does anyone have tips on ensuring the connections are secure and safe? Also, is there a recommended brand for video doorbells that work well with older systems?

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.
