Integrating a New Smart Lock - Seeking Advice

Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my recent project of integrating a new smart lock into my home automation setup. I’ve been using Home Assistant for a while now, and I wanted to take the next step by adding a smart lock to my front door. I chose the August Smart Lock because of its compatibility with Home Assistant and positive reviews from other users.

However, I’ve encountered a few bumps along the way. After setting up the lock and connecting it to my Zigbee network, I noticed that the lock doesn’t always respond to commands from Home Assistant. Sometimes, when I try to lock or unlock the door via the app, there’s a delay or no response at all. I’ve checked the Zigbee configuration, ensured that the lock is properly paired, and even reset the device to factory settings, but the issue persists.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with August Smart Locks or similar devices. Have you faced similar issues? What steps did you take to resolve them? I’m also curious about best practices for ensuring reliable communication between smart locks and Home Assistant.

On a positive note, the lock works perfectly when used manually with the key or the built-in keypad. It’s just the integration with Home Assistant that’s been a bit tricky. I’m hopeful that with the right adjustments, I can get everything working smoothly.
