Integrating AliExpress Numeric Keyboards with OpenHAB

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a fun DIY project to integrate an AliExpress numeric keyboard with OpenHAB. The idea came to me while trying to build my own alarm system—I just couldn’t find a number pad that matched my aesthetic, and the DIY options were too clunky. That’s when I stumbled upon these sleek numeric keyboards on AliExpress. They come in various colors, sizes, and some even have LED status indicators, which I think would be perfect for an alarm system!

I’ve been researching how to connect these keyboards to OpenHAB. They have three versions: wired, 2.4GHz wireless with a USB dongle, and Bluetooth. I’m leaning towards Bluetooth since it’s the most flexible and doesn’t require extra hardware. However, I’ve had some trouble finding the right bindings or configurations to make it work. I’ve reached out in the Bluetooth binding section of the forum, but no luck yet.

I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully integrated a numeric keyboard like this into their OpenHAB setup. Are there any specific bindings or workarounds that I should know about? I’m sure this could be a great addition for controlling smart home devices, especially for those who prefer a physical keypad over touchscreens.

If you’ve got any tips or experiences to share, I’d be super grateful! Let’s brainstorm together and see if we can make this happen.
