Hey everyone, I’m diving into a fun project to connect my electric recliner to my home automation setup! While it might seem a bit quirky, I think it could add a nice touch to my relaxation time. The chair runs on 24V DC and uses a linear motor that changes direction based on polarity. I’ve got an ESP8266 board with a 4-relay setup ready to go, all configured with ESPHome. The goal is to maintain the existing physical buttons on the chair while adding HA functionality.
The challenge I’m facing is wiring the relays without interfering with the existing buttons. I’ve mapped out a basic wiring diagram, but I’m concerned about potential shorts. The buttons are micro-switches on a board with Common, NO, and NC terminals. I need to ensure that the relays integrate seamlessly without causing any issues.
I’ve considered using a third relay to cut power entirely, but I’m not sure how that would interact with the existing buttons. If anyone has experience with similar projects or can offer some wiring tips, I’d be super grateful! This project is a bit of a puzzle, but I’m excited to crack it and share the solution with the community. Thanks in advance for any help!
