Hello everyone, I’m currently looking to upgrade my existing Gira Dual smoke detectors, which have been in use for about 10 years. After some research, I came across the Ei Electronics smoke detectors (Ei650iW/Ei650iRF), which seem to offer a robust solution for integration with smart home systems. My house is equipped with a KNX installation, and I’m aiming to connect these Ei smoke detectors to KNX and then link them to Home Assistant for automation purposes.
The primary goal is to receive individual alerts from each detector, which I plan to use as a makeshift burglary alarm system, though I’m fully aware it’s not a professional setup![

From what I understand, the integration with KNX can be achieved using a coupling module like the Ei414, which connects via KNX binary contacts. However, my main question is whether these Ei smoke detectors can be directly integrated into Home Assistant without relying on the official integration, which doesn’t seem to exist. Has anyone successfully used these detectors in their setup?
I’ve reviewed the manufacturer’s website for potential solutions and application examples, but I’m still unclear on the exact steps for Home Assistant integration. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to hearing from those who might have tackled this before. Cheers, Sascha
