Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in integrating my Energenie (MiHome) smart devices with Homey. For those who might not know, Energenie operates on the 433 MHz frequency and has an open-source communication protocol, which made me curious about whether I could control these devices through Homey without any additional hardware.
After some research and tinkering, I found that Homey does support 433 MHz devices through its plugins and integrations. It wasn’t a straightforward process, but with the help of some community forums and guides, I managed to set everything up perfectly! Now, I can control my lights, sockets, and even my smart plug from the Homey app.
If anyone is interested in doing something similar, I’d be happy to share the steps I took or point you in the right direction. It’s a fantastic way to expand your smart home ecosystem without breaking the bank!
What other creative ways have you found to integrate different smart devices into your Homey setup? Let’s discuss!
Hi. I’m just getting into Homey and have run into problems using Energenie products. You say you have found a method to do this. Can you help me please.
Kind regarads Ken
Hi again … and a Happy New Year to you and yours.
I have spent the past few days trying to work with the Homey and have decided that I don’t feel it is a mature product at this time. It is lacking in compatibility for a product that is a few years old now. I really like the product itself but computability is a BIG stumbling block going forward. In particular I was strongly influenced by Paul Hibbert on YouTube praising it’s simplicity and compatibility with everything! He stressed it’s simplicity so much that he had his wife add devices on her own apparently without any training. I’m not saying women need tech training but you get the point I hope. The bulk of my home is based around Sonoff and some Energenie so it was very important to me to retain their compatibility.
I will say that ‘if’ you were able to guarantee compatibility with your existing devices as I feel was implied then Homy is possibly the best overall system at this time.
I consider myself to be an advanced user so I really feel let down by the hype Homey has received.
If compatibility could be guaranteed for my existing de3vices then I would be happy to keep with Homey.
So thanks for your kind offer to refresh your memory about a workaround for Energenie devices.
My thanks for your time and assistance.
