After a lot of research and experimentation, I successfully integrated my EnOcean-enabled lights into my SmartThings setup!
Here’s how I did it, in case anyone else is tackling a similar challenge. The Setup: I’ve been using Eltako switches and dimmers (like the PTM215 DB) for my lighting, which rely on the EnOcean protocol. While I love the simplicity and reliability of EnOcean, integrating it with my Zigbee/Z-Wave network was a puzzle I wanted to solve. The Journey: I stumbled upon the EnOcean USB 300, which seemed like the missing piece. The idea was to use it alongside a Raspberry Pi to bridge the EnOcean signals into SmartThings. After setting up the USB 300 and configuring the Pi, I used some custom scripts to translate the EnOcean signals into commands SmartThings could understand. The Outcome: Now, my Eltako switches not only work seamlessly with my SmartThings routines but also provide on/off control through the app. It’s been a game-changer for my home automation setup!Tips for Others: - Start Small: Test with one device before scaling up. - Community Resources: The forums have been invaluable. Check out this thread for more insights. - Coding Know-how: While I have a background in C++ and Python, even basic scripting skills can go a long way here.If anyone has questions or needs guidance, feel free to reach out! I’d love to help others unlock the potential of their EnOcean devices. ![]()
