Integrating Everspring Mini Door/Window Sensor with Vera Lite: A User’s Journey

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation recently and decided to give Vera Lite a try. So far, setting up a few switches and plugin modules has been a smooth experience. However, I’ve hit a bit of a snag with the Everspring mini door/window sensor (HSM02). Despite my best efforts, it keeps showing as unconfigured or waiting for a device name whenever I try to poll or auto-configure it. It does show up in my devices list with a device ID, but when I try to include it in any scene, it doesn’t respond. The configured date even shows 1969, which is a bit concerning!

My goal is to set up this sensor as a trip sensor for my garage door to detect if it’s left open. I’d like Vera Lite to trigger a scene where the family room light flashes every 2 seconds when the garage door is open. I found some Luup code on this forum that seems to work when I force the sensor, but I’m running into two main issues:

  1. Stopping the Flashing Lights: Once the sensor detects the garage door closing, how do I stop the lights from flashing and return them to their previous state or turn them off completely? Should I create a second scene or use a different trigger?

  2. Properly Configuring the Sensor: I’ve tried the tamper switch method—clicking it three times within 1.5 seconds and then closing the tamper cover—but while the light starts flashing as intended, the sensor doesn’t seem to stay properly configured. Any tips on ensuring the sensor is fully integrated and functional would be greatly appreciated!

I’m really excited about the potential of Vera Lite and smart home automation, but this sensor issue is a bit of a hurdle. If anyone has successfully integrated an Everspring HSM02 with Vera Lite or has any troubleshooting tips, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other out as we navigate this fascinating world of smart home tech. :rocket:
