I wanted to share my recent project integrating a fingerprint/RFID reader with my Homematic system. After some research and experimentation, I successfully connected the reader to my system using the Wiegand protocol. Here’s what I did:
-
Hardware Setup: I used a Cat5 cable to power the reader and connect it to my Homematic system. The reader communicates via the Wiegand interface, which was key to ensuring compatibility.
-
Software Configuration: I installed the controller software from UHPPOTE on AliExpress. It took some time to configure, but the software proved reliable once set up. I was able to program the reader to recognize multiple RFID tags and fingerprints.
-
Integration with Homematic: I connected the reader to an HM-MOD-EM-8 module. This allowed me to control various devices in my home, such as lights and locks, using the RFID tags or fingerprint scans.
-
Testing: The system works seamlessly! I can now unlock my door or turn on lights with a simple swipe or fingerprint scan. It’s incredibly convenient and adds a layer of security to my home.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried similar integrations or has tips for improving this setup. Happy to help if you have questions!
